Top Mistakes to Avoid When Applying for Your Overseas Employment Clearance Certificate (NOEERCC)

Applying for the National Overseas Employment Eligibility & Civic Responsibility Clearance Certificate (NOEERCC) is an important step for any Cameroonian citizen preparing for formal employment abroad. However, many applicants encounter delays or rejection simply because of avoidable mistakes. Understanding these common errors can save you time, money, and frustration—and help ensure your certificate is approved on the first attempt.

Submitting Incomplete or Incorrect Personal Information

One of the most frequent reasons for delays is incomplete or inconsistent personal data. Every detail—names, dates, ID numbers, birth information—must match what appears on your official documents.

Avoid this by:

  • Double-checking all fields before submitting

  • Using the same spelling as on your National ID or passport

  • Uploading clear, readable copies of supporting documents

Even minor errors may trigger manual review, slowing down your application.

Uploading Low-Quality or Invalid Documents

Blurry photos, expired IDs, and unreadable scans often lead to immediate rejection. The system requires documents that clearly show full names, dates, and official seals.

To prevent this:

  • Use a properly lit environment when taking photos

  • Avoid shadows and reflections

  • Ensure documents are not cropped or partially visible

  • Check validity dates before uploading

Quality matters—especially for facial identification and legal verification.

Using Unofficial Agents or Middlemen

Some individuals promise “faster” certificate processing for a fee. This is risky, unnecessary, and often leads to fraud or rejected applications.

Best practice:
Always apply directly through the official NOEERCC portal, where:

  • Your data is protected

  • Payments are secure

  • Status updates are traceable

  • Processing is standardized and transparent

The government does not recognize applications submitted through third-party agents.

Making Payments Outside the Official Portal

Another major mistake is paying fees to individuals or unofficial numbers. NOEERCC fees must be paid using mobile money through the portal only, via:

  • MTN Mobile Money (MoMo)

  • Orange Money

Paying outside the system means your application will not be validated, and your money cannot be traced.
